ELLENSBURG, WA— On Saturday, BYU traveled to the Pacific Northwest to face a tough Central Washington team. It proved to be a physical match for the Cougars and resulted in the program’s first-ever loss to the Wildcats. After giving up 17 points to CWU early in the first half, BYU put up its only points of the game in the 38th minute with a try by Braden Pape.
Central Washington held the Cougars scoreless throughout the second half, finishing the game with a final score of 51-7.
The Cougars return to Provo for a bye week before squaring off in an anticipated rematch and season home opener against St. Mary’s on March 14.
